The Little Tea Rooms

the best of what's around

Ela and I have been farming here since 2007. We are both from farming backgrounds and are the fifth generation of my family to farm this land.

I remember pigs on the farm back in the 1970s and early 1980s and going with my father to Llangefni to buy them – but there were hardly any Welsh pigs back then. We bought our first pedigree Welsh pigs in 2007. We started with two, and now we have 30.

With Welsh pork, it’s all down to the quality of the meat. You have to taste it to believe it. It’s unique.

Our meat is butchered at our local butchers, J Williams and Co in Denbigh. We go there twice a week but pack everything at home.

We sell our products at local farmers’ markets like Ynys Môn, Porthmadog and Bethesda, and enter our meat at shows, too. At the Royal Welsh Winter Fair we entered 15 different pork products and were delighted to come home with 13 gold awards.

We specialise in Welsh pedigree pigs and really enjoy competing with them at agricultural shows. One of our sows won the Welsh champion of champions prize, run by the Pedigree Welsh Pig Society, which means she is the best in breed. She’s the only pig to have won this title three times.

Pig keeping involves a lot of work but we love it. Our children Emyr, 5, and Anest, 3, really enjoy helping on the farm too and attending the shows. Anest has already competed and shown real confidence in the ring. We’re hoping to go to some of the bigger shows soon as she just enjoys it so much.
